At San Juan Capestrano Hospital, we are dedicated to providing a continuum of care through specialized programs for adolescents, adults, and seniors facing mental health disorders and chemical dependence issues. To ensure that we meet the needs of as many people as possible, San Juan Capestrano Hospital offers the following levels of specialized care and programs:

  • Psychiatric HospitalizationDesigned for adults over the age of 18 who suffer from emotional, behavioral, and mental health conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and various behavioral problems, among others. Patients who participate in this program receive a number of therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. We are the only mental health hospital in Puerto Rico with areas of stay and clinical programs specialized in women.
  • Adolescent Hospitalization – Designed for youth ages 13 to 17 with emotional problems or mental health conditions, such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and behavioral disorders, among many others. We also provide treatment for youth dealing with substance abuse. Each patient receives an individualized treatment program that includes individual, family, and group therapy. Recreational and occupational therapy is also offered. The stay in the program varies depending on the patient’s condition and response to treatment.
  • Substance Abuse Treatment – Our program serves individuals 18 years of age and older who have a dependence on drugs and/or alcohol. Patients who participate in this program undergo medical monitoring followed by individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, occupational and recreational therapy sessions. Patients who are part of this program have the opportunity to participate in education classes on chemical dependence, physical and emotional strengthening, and nutrition. They are introduced to the philosophy of the 12 steps and groups of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
